Artist Statement

I’ve always liked to draw and color - particularly portraits (hands and faces) of friends and family. And I’ve always been interested in perspective.

I consider my carvings a kind of thick drawing (like board lumber retaining its two dimensional quality). When I vary much from the very real-looking it’s to see how far I can alter normal perspective or maybe it’s my right brain having some say. I don’t intend a message or to convey some literal idea. I just want to make really attractive, tactilely satisfying things that are interesting and well crafted.
